If you don’t know the meaning of “dilapidated,” then you’re on the right wrong track. Since joining as a novice in class seven, you’ve been on a long journey. Yet, you’re still the same. While your peers (whom you once surpassed) are still striving through hardships to improve, you remain in the same dream with the word “Cadet.” (As if it were a spell)
Back when you were a junior, you saw your classmates awake late at night, practicing relentlessly, and excelling in their skills round the clock. And you, you were dreaming as if you were already in that position. Dreams fade away when we wake up, so we treasure the experiences. You spent your following years thinking about that same dream, hoping to relive it once again. Comfortable in your soft mattress, while they continued with their efforts.
Keep knocking on heaven’s door, but let me remind you again, that life is real. We all preferred the comfort of our mother’s lap, but now you truly understand what ‘dilapidated’ means. It’s late; six years have flown by so fast, but no one told you when to run, and you thought you would elope away.
Now you remember what that Bhai once said, “Read and memorize five vocabs a day!” However, you were not even interested enough to knowwhat “vocabs” meant back then. Now when you see his joyful face in front of the IBA gate, near Madhur Canteen, you think, “Ishsssssh, what if?”
Cadet College is an institution that filters the best of the best, and you are among them. But you, you used to hide in the corners, They kept running in the wind, living, laughing, thriving, yet you didn’t realize when you couldn’t keep up as all marched forward. Now Despondency creeps upon your shoulder & you can not take it anymore.
You started the pack with 0 push-ups and 0 pull-ups, they went up to 100’s & 20’s. Do you see yourself, are you still yet to finish the mile? Do the math. Let’s play a game of Truth or Dare. You’re afraid to choose either? Then let’s simplify things: Let me prepare the bed, and please sleep on it, because that’s what you’re good at.
For the last five years, you’ve chanted “Rabbi Jidni Ilma” with 300 cadets, but you only thought about Ilma (ifykuk) rather than studying when you should have been…
For a long time, you’ve raised your finger towards the system, yet you couldn’t accept the flaws you had within yourself. You watched them preparing UAVs, running Y010V8, however you kept listening to “Lage Ura Dhura” in the lab class. Now, how does it feel, dear friend of mine? The system has provided you with enough facilities, but even the sanest man on earth has some flaws so does the system. A hundred years ago, Promoth Chowdhury said, “Memorization hinders talent.” Now, ironically, we’re memorizing his texts. So why blame the system? Nothing changes. You don’t even use the facilities; rather, they use you. Not only that, you misuse those facilities and deprive those who could’ve benefited. You’re failing yourself and your friends. In the end, those who tried, who put in the effort, they matter. But do you?
Let’s wrap it up, wake up, brush your teeth, hide the scars, and fade away the shake-up. It’s never too late, if you’ve read this far, I truly admire you. Now, take the dictionary and find “dilapidated,” because you aren’t anymore. We aren’t either; it’s time to drop the melancholy, what we are and what we become makes all the difference. What we don’t know is that we are free to explore. And there`s a vast ocean of possibilities.
